GTNH Getting Started Guide
This is a basic Getting Started Guide for GT New Horizons Modpack on Stone Legion but will be useful for most servers and single player.
Leaving Spawn & Surviving Your First Few Day:
Right now spawn is 200 x 200 in size. In the future there will be portals in the center of spawn to take you out to 6k x 6k in all 4 corners. This will happen once we expand the world out to 8K Radius out.
The best thing you can do is not Sprint at all to lower the food consumption as you will need to go quite out before you find your first food. Don't leave later in the day or in the evening as this pack has Hardcore Darkness. It's best you instead leave early in the morning for example 6AM. You can type /Time to see the current time in the game.
It's best you go out 2k+ on a none cardinal direction. This way there has been a lot less players who visited the area and more chance to find Pam's Gardens the only decent method of finding food at early stages of the game besides raw meat.
Once you found a place to live you will want to claim a bit of the land and get started with the quest book. Once you have made a bed you just need to right click it to set your home and if you die you will return back to your bed.

This book is your life and guide. It's quite a well written book and as long as you know how to use this and NEI then you should be able to progress quite well in the pack without too many issues.
You first start at spawn. You will start with a quest book and you can open this via the item or even if you don't have the quest book via a hotkey. (Standard it's Grave Key ` or ~ beside the one) But you can check keybinds and change it.
Your First Objective would be to get tools and find some basic foods. A spoiler of when you create your first tools via the Quest Book:
Keep in mind the Quest Book is not perfect. It has a lot of tiny bugs and issues but if you learn ways to workaround them then you are fine. Keep a note if it's a Retrieval Quest or a Crafting Quests. All Crafting quests only work via a Crafting Table mostly. Once you start getting into Tier 2 most of the quests turn into Retrieval Quests.
As time goes on you will Earn Coins. Most of your coins might seem quite useless right now but as you progress into the higher Tiers you will be able to buy basic components for LV, MV and HV Tiers and many other things like Cells with Fluids in them and a few other things. It's recommended you save these till you unlock the section. It will look quite bare for a long time once you do unlock it till you progress higher.
NEI Is Your Best Friend Outside The Quest Book:
Sadly this tends to be a hard concept for people to understand. But in Modded Minecraft there is 1000's of new Recipes and sometimes 1000's of changes recipes. Well this Pack has that but in the 100,000's of recipes. So you need to start learning to use NEI more in a pack like this.
Right away at the bottom of your inventory is a Search Bar try searching Crafting Table!
Once you have done that left click on the crafting table at the top right and it should popup the new recipe for it. Now it will flash through a bunch of Wood Material types but from what you can tell it seems to accept any kinds of Raw Wood (Logs) for the recipe.
Now you might think Flint is easy but already in this pack Flint does not drop from Gravel do you need to go deeper and figure out how to obtain flint by left clicking one of the 2 Flints in the crafting screen in NEI.
That is pretty much it for the basics of NEI. You can also bring up items in your inventory and other inventories without searching their name by hitting R key while hovering over an item to see what recipes make that item or hitting the U Key while hovering over an item to see what recipes use that item in it.
You can also hide NEI if needed for any reason with the O key and show it again with the I key with your inventory open.
